Volunteer &
make a difference

Volunteers are the backbone of Hope Horizon East Palo Alto. They open doors to hope and opportunity for youth through our highly-relational environment.

All volunteers who work with students are required to fill out an application and pass a background check.

Ways To Serve

Academic Support

Academic Tutor

  • Play an essential role in a student’s academic growth. Work 1:1 with K-12 students to complete homework and bring them up to grade level in reading and math. No prior experience needed.

  • Commitment: Tutor once per week or twice a month, Monday—Thursday, 4–6 pm.

Spiritual Mentor

  • Support K-8 students in their walk with God as they grow spiritually and emotionally. Mentors meet 1:1 with students throughout the school year and provide a safe space for students to share.

  • Commitment: Meet with one or more students for 30 minutes each, weekly or bimonthly, Monday—Thursday, 5-6pm.

Robotics

  • Open the possibility of a career in STEM and equip students to take advantage of all that Silicon Valley has to offer! No experience in STEM needed. We have 3 programs:

  • Elementary

  • Middle School

  • High School First Robotics Championships. The East Palo Alto Churrobots, FRC Team #8048, is the only student-led club robotics team coming out of EPA. Help them prepare for competition, fundraise, design, engineer and more!

  • Minimum commitment: once a week for 2-3 hours

Serve as a Group

We offer a wide range of opportunities for school, church, or community groups to serve together. Activities include setting up and/or running events for students and their families, landscaping, and renovation projects. Come see what God is doing in East Palo Alto!
