Volunteer &
make a difference

Volunteers are the backbone of Hope Horizon East Palo Alto. They open doors to hope and opportunity for youth through our highly-relational environment.
 â€‹
All volunteers who work with students are required to pass a background check and attend a volunteer orientation.

Ways To Serve

Academic Support

Academic Tutor

  • Play an essential role in a student’s academic growth. Work 1:1 with K-8 students to complete homework and bring them up to grade level in reading and math. No prior experience needed. Our staff work with students’ schools/teachers/parents to create a plan and volunteers.

  • Minimum commitment: Tutor twice a month at Hope Horizon during the school year for 1-3 hours between 3-6pm.

Spiritual Mentor

  • Support K-8 students in their walk with God as they grow spiritually and emotionally. Mentors meet 1:1 with a student throughout the school year and provide a safe space for students to share.

  • Minimum commitment: Meet with student twice a month at Hope Horizon during the school year for 1-3 hours between 3-6pm.

Robotics

  • Open the possibility to a career in STEM and equip students with the necessary skills to take advantage of all that Silicon Valley has to offer! No experience in STEM needed. We have 3 programs:

  • Elementary

  • Middle School

  • High School First Robotics Championships. The East Palo Alto Churrobots, FRC Team #8048, is the only student lead club robotics team coming out of EPA. Help them prepare for competition, fundraise, design, engineer and more!

  • Minimum commitment: once a week for 2-3 hours

Serve as a Group

We have a wide range of opportunities for churches/students/small groups to serve together (e.g. help run events, landscaping) and learn more about what God is doing in East Palo Alto.
